Amanda Lane

Hey, I’m Amanda.

For as long as I can remember, my life has felt like one long nightmare—literally. I was born with a pretty intense skin condition that made me want to crawl out of my own skin (and not in the poetic way). I spent a lot of my early years in hospitals, dealing with asthma, allergies, and eczema so severe I was put through trials, biopsies, and experimental treatments before I even hit Junior High.

And the dreams? Always nightmares. I honestly don’t remember ever having a normal one. But weirdly, those dark, twisted dreams became the inspiration behind this book. Writing this story let me take all the pain, fear, and chaos from my past and shape it into something that has helped me release all of that. It's been a truly healing journey.

Now I’m 30, with two wild and beautiful little boys who light up my world, and a partner who’s stood by me through every step of this journey. I’ve always wanted to do something creative—something with film, fantasy, world-building—and this book is the start of that dream becoming real.

Dark fantasy has always been my escape. Growing up, I lived for shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural. Those stories were my safe place, my obsession, my first love—and now I’ve created a whole world - alongside my sister Jessica who has been my biggest hype man since I brought this project to her - and far beyond that. She really gave this story life and helped me with it in more ways that I can express.

Welcome to The Raven’s Flesh and Bones. I hope you fall in love with Ravenforge the way I have. And if my nightmares creep into your dreams a little… well, you’ve been warned.

Jessica Swanborg

I'm drawn to writing dark, atmospheric fantasy shaped by grief, folklore, and the quiet kind of horror that settles under your skin. My stories often explore haunted forests, broken families, and the blurred lines between love and monstrosity.

By day, I work with young children. By night, I write about soul-stealing fae and curses that linger in the dark. I’ll let you decide which is scarier.

I live in British Columbia with my husband, our two kids, and more story ideas than I have time for. When I’m not writing, I’m usually brewing up plotlines with my sister or exploring the world for inspiration.
